Having studied and practiced many healing therapies over the last 25 years, I have now honed my way of practicing. I have worked with many people from all walks of life, men and women of many nationalities. Through this lengthy practice, I have found people need a variety of interventions for the mind, body, spirit and soul, in order to understand:
- what needs healing within,
- how this can be achieved
- breakthrough old patterns and habits that no longer serve
- in order to find new ways of being and living.
I now offer a 90 minute intake session to discuss why you are looking for healing, what you would like to achieve and how I can assist you. In this session, we get time to work together and to agree on a program of healing to suit your particular needs and wishes. I am finding more and more people do really well with a mixtiure of the therapies I practice: Somatic Experiencing, Shamanic Healing, Reiki, Psychotherapy, Life Coaching and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Bodywork. Each person requires different variations. This is all flexible and important for people to understand the options and the process of healing.
We all have the ability within us to make changes by taking responsibility for ourselves and our health. Sometimes, we need someone to guide, facilitate and support us through a difficult patch so that we can move forward and enjoy life.
During this intake session, firstly, we discuss your completed intake questionairre which provides you and me with your personal and wellbeing history as well as a basis for planning your healing journey.
Then I will most likely start using Somatic Experiencing practices to assit you to connect with your inner resilience. This is done by learning to connect with your body and notice how it reacts to positive thoughts and memories. By focusing and building resilence, you learn to nourish your spirit and increase your vibration. We will practice and work on various other techniques like gratitude, etc. From this place of resilience, it is easier to dip into the challening feelings and emotions through a method called pendulation whereby the nervous system learns to regulate itself and you feel more able, capable and at peace. This practice can also assist with physical symptoms.
If there are deeper underlying traumas, Shamanic Healing work can be of great assistance. This is another beautiful yet power healing technique that offers deeper personal connections with your guides, your inner widsom and sacred nature throught the Shamanic Journey.
Psychotherapeutic work is intertwined as required because meaningfull discussion and understanding can be helpful on the journey.
Particular circumstances might require a collaborative Life Coaching session or sessions where a paricular task requires assistance. Looking at blocks to be overcome, actions required in order to process business challenges, relationship challenges and other life challenges. Breaking challenges down into doable steps with timelines and support.
Sometimes on this journey, you may just need to rest and recieve healing work through Reiki sessions. These sessions assist in clearing and energising your chakra centres, you aura and your light energy body. These are relaxing session where you lie on a plinth, massage bed with soft background music and the opportunity to rest and relax while receiving healing.
At the end of the healing journey, it can be nice to expereince some relaxing Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Bodywork, particularly after deep healing work. The physical body can benefit from gentle stretches and sweeping strokes. When the mind is offered some time out and the body some blissful care.
I found sometimes, clients were unsure which therapy to choose or choose one but required another or didn't consider a mix of therapies and so I decided to use the intake session to create a healing program of choice, discuss outcomes and start the work.
I don't require clients to come weekly or partake in multiple sessions. I believe my duty as therapist is to empower my clients to become aware of their bodies and take charge of their wellbeing with my assistance. My personal ethos is one of "preventative maintenance", to reach a point where you are coming for a healing session as you choose to prioritise and maintain your health and avoid illness. In the long term, 2-4 session a year.
